The old Barden Bellas are back with a brand new repertoire, including hit songs by Beyonce and Miley Cyrus, as they get set for a showdown against Europe's A Cappella royalty, in the much-awaited sequel--Pitch Perfect 2!
Fans of the 2012 pop musical, that was reportedly underappreciated when it first hit theaters, can now watch a major serving of teasers showing the original Bellas competing in the big league, in what could just be a box office hit.
There is a two and a half minute trailer of the much-anticipated Pitch Perfect 2 on You Tube. However, it it is highly questionable if any short teaser can keep fans satisfied until the movie's scheduled premier on May 15?
This particular trailer starts with the Barden Bellas singing the now-famous "Cup Song." Yes, the same audition song that heroine Beca Mitchell, played by Anna Kendrick, performed to get into the all-lady singing group in the first place. But there is a hint of sadness with the manner by which they sang it, a foreshadowing perhaps, of their impending graduation from Barden University and inevitable parting of ways?
Clearly, nobody is saying their goodbyes without winning the much-coveted World A Cappella Championship trophy! The rest of the trailer shows the Bellas getting set for the biggest of a cappella events. And some intense verbal tussling with what sounds like their German competition, only serves to make things more interesting, the trailer further revealed.
Another interesting bit of spoiler is that the team will apparently be suspended at some point after "Fat Amy," played by Australian comedienne Rebel Wilson, shows too much skin during a performance, according to Time. A shorter official trailer of the Pitch Perfect sequel can also be seen at time.com.
In yet another "global" trailer at Cosmopolitan.com, we find commentators John Smith (John Michael Higgins) and Gail Abernathy-McKadden (Elizabeth Banks) telling the Bellas that winning the world championships may be the only way out of their predicament.
The sequel is nothing short of a reunion of the original cast including Anna Camp, who plays the Bellas conservative former leader Aubrey Posen and Brittany Snow who plays Chloe Beale-better known as that other naked girl singing "Titanium" in the shower.
Pitch Perfect 2 promises to be as much a guilty pleasure as the original, if the trailers are any indication.
