With great power comes with great responsibilities and a new bunch of crime-fighting buddies as Spidey will now be teaming up with Iron Man and Captain America. Spider Man is set to be swinging into Marvel Studios films and will be joining some of the Avengers' crew.
Spider Man movie rights were sold to Sony Picture Entertainment way back in 1985 by Marvel, so ever since the day it was acquired by Sony, the chances of Spidey joining the Marvel Film Universe was zero to none not until the two giant film producers made a collaborative deal that was announced on Monday night as reported by USA Today.
According to SMH, Spider Man will be appearing first in a Marvel film with Iron Man and Captain America before getting his solo feature that is scheduled to be released in theaters by July 28 of 2017. The solo Spider Man movie on 2017 will be financed and distributed by Sony but it will be produced by Marvel Studios' president, Kevin Feige and the former Sony studios' head, Amy Pascal. Pascal recently stepped down as Sony Pictures co-chair in the midst of the company's hack as reported by CNet.
The partnership between the two companies was approved by Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman and CEO, Michael Lynton who said: "This is the right decision for the franchise, for our business, for Marvel, and for the fans."
Spidey might be included in the Marvel Universe but the actor who recently played the famous web-slinger, Andrew Garfield, is still not confirmed to reprise his role as Spider Man. SMH had reported that due to the new deal set by the two companies, there's a big chance that a new face will be underneath the mask of the superhero icon.
There's also no confirmation that Spider Man will appear in the upcoming, "Captain America: Civil War", where the superhero supposedly plays a major role in the 2006 comic book series of the same name by Marvel.
