Countdown to Insurgent: Fans Await Blazing Guns and Post-Apocaliptic-Chic Pixie Haircut in Divergent Sequel

Blazing guns and killer haircuts as seen in teasers seem to be telling fans to expect sweet young Tris to become harder in both form and demeanor in Insurgent, the much-anticipated sequel to last year's Divergent, which will hit the big screen on March 20.

Having cropped her gold locks and sporting the darker, tighter outfit of a true Dauntless, it is immediately apparent that our heroine, played by American actress Shailene Woodley, is ready to pick up a gun and blast away the social inequities of a futuristic Chicago. But not if old nemesis Jeanine, played by Titanic's Kate Winslet, has anything to say about it! The official trailer on You Tube also shows the Erudite queen hell-bent to keep the segmented society just the way it is, and stamp out all people with divergent qualities.

The second installment in yet another trilogy, Insurgent shows the gap between social classes to have widened tremendously since the first movie. The highly-intelligent Erudites resort to treachery, deceit and violence in order to take their place at the top of the caste system which will supposedly prevail in the Windy City sometime in the not-so-distant future. Travelers Today tells us that in the sequel, Tris, along with Dauntless hunk boyfriend, Four, played by Theo James, will be pre-occupied with amassing intelligence information on the Erudite strategy. All that while dodging bullets and avoiding capture!

Jai Courtney reprises his role as Eric, Four's former foxhole buddy in the Dauntless faction, but now the couple's relentless pursuer. It may be up to Four to give his beloved Tris a crash course on enhancing her natural Dauntless nature, in order to shoot straight and make death-defying leaps from the city's crumbling skyscrapers.

However, it is not just the transition from sheepish Beatrice to the machine gun wielding Tris that has everybody counting down to opening night. There seems to be just as much attention on Woodley's post-Apocalyptic-chic haircut, which according to CNN seems much shorter than what is suggested in the book. The Californian actress explained that she requested director Robert Schwentke if she could keep her hair naturally short, and he obliged.
