From its excellent hardware that works at par with high-end phones to nippy software, not to mention it's gorgeous build quality, and other superb features like quality video and clear sound and crisp screen display, the Mi 4 renders everything it promises to deliver in slick performance. And again at that price, Xiaomi makes the Mi 4 all the more tempting.
But there's more: MIUI (the OS that Xiaomi is using) allows more control in terms of how apps look on the home screen. Themes also load easier that users can easily switch from one to another. The phone's current balanced mode can also be upgraded to a high performance mode. It can score 24,055 when set in high-performance mode and 15, 954 in balanced.
Other configurable settings include the "do not disturb" section, option in terms of which apps to give notification, control over apps permissions and auto-starts, and the guest mode option that can hide calls, photos, and messages.
Then there's also the Mi 4's oddly familiar appearance, which according to many is iPhone and Samsung combined. The metal chassis, the Gorilla Glass screen, and the plastic rear panel that the Mi 4 sports give away its striking resemblance with iPhone 4 and 5. Yet despite the cynicism it has stirred, it can't be denied that the MI 4 looks handsome and solid and neat too.
With Xiaomi's newest version coming in on August, the upgraded version of Mi 4 will be different by then. Who knows it would address the G4 issue and lack of Micro SD card slot in its upcoming Mi smartphone line?
But for now the device's superb performance for a price that is thrice lower than other smartphones of the same calibre, is just too much a temptation especially for Chinese and those based in adjacent markets that Xiaomi caters to.
There are online centres prospective buyers outside China can take advantage of to make an order though. After all, the Mi 4 comes with an OS that supports multiple languages.
