Elder Scrolls Online release date that goes live on PC, Mac on March 17 and PS4, Xbox One console versions early June. Meantime, Bethesda reassures that the details will be exposed on the upcoming community event.
The Crown Store is a new addition to the MMO, that becomes subscription free on March 17. Players using real money can purchase cosmetic items, XP boosts, mounts, vanity pets, soul gems, potions for health, magicka and stamina.
"[Potions] can be purchased with crowns, but they're functionally very similar to the potions you can purchase from in-game vendors, and they're somewhat weaker and less effective than player-crafted potions," game designer Matt Firor wrote.
"This gives the player a choice: spend some crowns to get potions right now, or play a while to earn in-game gold and then spend it either at a vendor, another player, or at a Guild Store."
All are convenience or vanity items that will neither cause a direct impact on the gameplay or provide an unfair advantage similar to many online stores in MMOs.
Also, more loyalty rewards will be given away when The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited release date arrives next month. Gamers who have been playing for nine-months will be entitled to the Mask of Cheerful Slaughter, a costume modeled after the Daedric Prince Sheogorath.
Another reward for nine-month subscribers is the incredible Striped Senche, which is a giant cat mount.
To grab this mount, players need to have been an ESO subscriber at the time of transition to The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited and made payments for a total of 300 days of non-consecutive subscription time before March 16.
"Our goal in designing setting the criteria for eligibility was to ensure that we reward players who have been with us from the start, but to allow for the occasional lapse in subscription, as well," game designer confirmed.
Firor also confirmed that experience-boosting items will most probably be included offered in the near future and mentioned that talks about which convenience items will be offered for purchase with in-game gold instead of just crowns are still in progress.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited release date arrives on PC, Mac March 17 while Xbox One, PS4 console versions will be launched on June 9.
