Star Wars 7 Latest: Unshaven, Old and Half-Crazy, Luke Skywalker Up for an Awesome Return in The Force Awakens

By

Luke Skywalker’s tired old man look, as seen in official and unofficial image leaks, is turning out to be a big deal for Star Wars fanatics, who are eager to watch the first installment of the new trilogy: The Force Awakens.

Expect to see Luke (Mark Hamill), now a Jedi master, but living alone as an aging and disheveled recluse in some backwoods planet, not unlike his mentors Ben Kenobi and Yoda in the original trilogy. We gather that Anakin’s son has chosen the life of a hermit in order to safeguard those he loves from an awesome outburst of the Force that radiates from within, or something to that effect. This may indicate the he has had his own struggles with his Dark Side in the 30-year period between Episode 6 and Episode 7.

“Creepy” is how Screen Rant described Luke when he is first drawn out of his extended solitude to once again assume his Jedi duties in The Force Awakens! The returning Jedi would have grown immensely in power since we last saw him, even as years of loneliness may have made him somewhat mentally unstable. Crazy or not, however, Luke’s continuing role in the decades-spanning Galactic conflict cannot be underestimated, the same source suggested.

Another source further explains Luke’s self-imposed exile at the start of the film, saying that he has actually been guarding the tomb of a long-deceased Sith Lord. Cinema Blend explains that Kylo Ren, Episode 7’s latest Evil Jedi otherwise known as a Sith Lord, has been searching for this ancient tomb, presumably in a bid to unleash what lies within. The same source has it that scenes from Luke’s exile were filmed in the scenic Irish isle of Skellig Michael, where Hamill had often been seen last year.

Meantime, while a host of new and important characters will debut in The Force Awakens, The Guardian reports that Star Wars 7 will nonetheless focus mainly on much-beloved original heroes: Han, Leia and, of course, Luke!

The 7th Star Wars film is expected to hit the big screen on December 2015, unless director J.J. Abrams makes good on reports of a summer premier, amid endless plot and image leaks.
