A slew of rumors surfaced online purporting an all-new sleeker thinner PS4 slim with a release date coming out just after over a year that the current PS4 hit the market in November 2013.
The reported leak courtesy of Italian website showed the leaked PS4 slim images codenamed 'Monolith' look much sleeker console than the PS4.
The photos that went viral are taken of a MacBook Pro and seem to be press images. The original source has made a disclaimer that these images are indeed real.
The PlayStation logo is said to be relocated that is why some users over NeoGaf believe that it is a fake but with E3 and Gamescom fast approaching this year, more details could be coming in.
Several websites have already questioned of the veracity of leaked photos earlier and the purported new design of the device. According to the reports, the current Sony PS4 console is already small that it overheats when kept inside an AV cabinet.
If the upcoming PS4 slim device is made smaller, it might result to worse cooling problems and there will be not enough space for the vents and fans in a slimmer thinner frame.
On the contrary, there are also other sites that see a tiny window for PS4 slim. Speculations argue that the Japanese tech firm has previously designed two slimmer versions of the PS3, thus, it is also possible case for PS4.
However, if and when Sony releases the PS4 slim, it will take more time before it reaches consumer market.
Sony just launched the PS4 console a little more than a year ago in November of 2013 and typically, the company releases the latest version of its consoles a few years after the release of the predecessor.
The previously reported leaked photos of the purported PS4 Slim have not dished further specs information other than being code named "Monolith," that appeared at the bottom part of the images.
It's quite common to guess that if PS4 Slim is indeed underway, Sony will most likely make an official reveal of its specs and features at E3 2015 this June.
Rumors online suggest that Sony may unveil this new gaming gadget at the prestigious annual Electronic Expo.
