Season 16 for "CSI" is still a big mystery. After the two-hour finale of Season 15 last February 17, viewers are left hanging on what and how Season 16 will be, when it will be aired, or is the show being canceled by CBS.
Everything is still undecided for the fate of the show, however, Nina Tassler, CBS President spoke about the crime-series with a positive light in the recent Television Critics Association, hints and comments that could lead fans to end up concluding that a Season 16 is indeed on the works.
As for Anthony Zuiker, he expressed his possible disappointments if the show would be cancelled. He even confirmed an upcoming Season 16 pitch according to RenewCancelTV.
"We haven't determined yet what's going to happen with "CSI." The show continues to be a strong performer and does very well in its time period. You look at the journey that the show has gone on with assorted cast changes over the years. We're just incredibly proud," she share on TV Line.
"CSI" was created by Anthony Zuiker and premiered on CBS on October 6, 2000. After almost a decade and a half of being one of the top crime dramas on the television screens, several spin-offs of the series were also produced by Jerry Bruckheimer including CSI: Miami and CSI: NY. Both shows are already cancelled. Another spin-off entitled CSI: Cyber has been announced last April 30, 2014 but is still not aired or even being produced by CBS.
Speculations of the series cancellation arose over the significant decrease I the ratings that the show experienced in Season 15. In the premiere episode for Season 15, a total of 9.36 million viewers supported the show but as the show progressed, it ended up with 6.98 million viewers on the last part of the season finale, Episode 18. Reports about the show also explains that the season supposedly had 22 episodes to run, but was decreased to 18 because of the declining ratings.
Whether the series will return or not is left as a mystery and an exciting revelation to fans.
