"Neighbors 2" (or "Bad Neighbors 2," depending on where you live- the first film was released as "Neighbors" in North America, and "Bad Neighbors" everywhere else) has beenofficially scheduled for next summer, on May 13, 2016. The comedy sequel will, just like the last film, star Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne as a young couple who'd really just like to live in peace and quiet in suburbia. And, just like the last film, it'll star Zac Efron as a frat bro extraordinaire- but with one key difference. In "Neighbors 2," Zac Efron will be a hero this time.
Here's everything we know about the story for "Neighbors 2," as revealed by Empire. Apparently, the couple played by Rogen and Byrne will still be living in that same little house. Only, with the fraternity gone, they'll finally have a little peace and quiet. Or they would, except that a sorority house has just moved in where the fraternity used to be- and the sorority girls are louder, noisier, and more disruptive than the frat guys ever were. Thus, an unlikely truce is formed: Rogen, Byrne and Efron team up to bring this evil sorority down and finally give Rogen and Byrne a decent night of quiet.
It might not seem like it, but "Neighbors" may just become a regular comedy franchise. The first film was a massive success (really, we can't overstate it- "Neighbors" cost $18 million to make, and came away from the box office with $268 million. that's the kind of profit studios will never walk away from). If the second film fares just as well, we might be seeing more "Neighbors" films on a regular basis. Den of Geek also reports that the film will be directed by the same mind behind the original "Neighbors"- Nicholas Stoller. We can only hope that'll keep the second film as hilarious as the first.
