The twilight saga actor Robert Pattinson, who revealed lately that he's never read Fifty Shades of Grey, said in an interview that "It's kind of weird." He also revealed his closeness to Jamie Dornan, who portrays Christian Grey in the film.
In an interview with Reuters, Pattinson said, "I haven't actually read the book but I think it must be very, very different," He added, "I don't see how it can work if it's not different."
"It's amazing; it's that fan base," Pattinson continued to Reuters of the Fifty Shades fanatics. "There's some kind of profound connection that a bunch of people have to it and I've never figured out quite what it is."
Aside from Pattinson's connection to Fifty Shades of Grey, he also spilled to Reuters about his connection to the leading man.
"It's kind of weird... I've known Jamie for about 10 years," he said.
In an interview with Variety last month, Jamie Dornan talked about his friendship with Pattinson "I don't remember what we talked about the last time I saw him," he said, "I think we just got drunk."
He also added that his character as Christian Grey is different from Robert Pattinson. "By the way, it's not the same thing. We're not the Twilight franchise. We're a different thing," he continued, "Whatever my situation is, it's going to be different from Rob's. They are incomparable. I've been around Rob long enough to see what it's been like for him. I don't know if it's been a benefit to witness that. Whatever that is."
Fifty Shades of Grey - the best-selling erotic romance novel, now became a box-office hit and international phenomenon started as a fan fiction on the "Twilight" novels before it was published without an agent through a small, online writers community.
Fans of the 2011 sadomasochistic story - originally titled Master of the Universe - know how author E. L. James swapped Edward & Bella for Christian & Ana, and later ended up selling 70M copies of the erotic series worldwide.
