"Me, inspiring Fifty Shades of Grey? That's weird." The 28 years old, Twilight Saga actor, Robert Pattinson, in an interview with Reuters, thinks the idea that he inspired the bestselling, erotic novel, Fifty Shades of Grey, is weird.
The novel, written by EL James, recently was revealed to meant to be a piece of fan fiction about the lead characters of the novel Twilight sage, Edward Cullen, portrayed by Robert, and Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart, and was transformed into a top-grossing film.
Robert reported told: "It's kind of weird ... I haven't actually read the book but I think it must be very, very different. I don't see how it can work if it's not different.
"It's amazing; it's that fan base. There's some kind of profound connection that a bunch of people have to it and I've never figured out quite what it is."
Robert is now busy promoting his movie, Maps to the Stars, which will be shown in US cinema on 27 February. The film recently launched its red band trailer. The film, which was shown last year for Cannes film festival, receive positive reviews from its critics and viewers.
Aside from the top grossing Twilight Saga films, Robert also starred in movies like Remember Me, Cosmopolis, Queen of the Desert, The Rover, and Life, among the few.
The novel, which recently turned into a film adaptation, which starred Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele, continues to earn in the box office, making £30.2 million (US$46,586 million) just on its opening night.
In the US, the top grossing R-rated drama sizzled in its debut, earning an estimated US$81.7 million, and is shown in 3,646 theatres for its first three days, distributor Universal Pictures said.
