Yes, he’s back, but this time he will be returning in a way that fans of the original Terminator movie might actually love. Some self-styled critics, who have supposedly gotten their hands on a genuine script of Genisys, have nothing but praise for the film which is scheduled to hit theaters this summer.
The very positive feedback seems to emanate from expectations that the 5th installment in the Terminator saga will be faithful to director James Cameron’s 1984 and 1991 “originals.” Purists apparently feel that nothing short of a convincing continuation of the plot left by Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which starred a younger and bulkier Arnold Schwarzenegger, will do.
Terminator: Rise of the Machines (2003) and Terminator: Salvation (2009), were supposedly big let downs for dyed-in-the-wool fans because they strayed too far from the storyline of the two earlier movies. Terminator 5, however, will go so far as actually take viewers back to some original locations and scenes from the earlier films, according to Screen Rant, quoting two sources who supposedly read the 130-page Genysis script.
The same two sources appear to agree that big fans of the first two movies will certainly enjoy the latest installment. At least one more reason for this is the expectation that there will be a much stronger emphasis on the time travel plot component in this sequel-reboot. Details like that is something that hardcore fans of the Terminator franchise have come to expect and that director Alan Taylor evidently wants to deliver. Viewers could, therefore, expect a major helping of action-packed scenes set in both the past and the future!
Meantime, The Arnold Fans hinted that, this time around, the ultimate ending of the Terminator story, which everybody thinks they already know, may not be as cut and dry as once believed! Those eager to watch Terminator: Genisys can probably expect a little more “time tampering” than usual. What this suggests is that the outcome of humanity’s battle against Skynet and its killer cyborgs is still up for grabs.
