With the latest product reviews of Dell's flagship laptop XPS 13 ultrabook, upshots show off XPS 13 is closing in on Apple's MacBook Air. Dell seems to be serious with defeating the tech giant.
Anand Tech's benchmark test results Dell's ground-breaking 2015 edition XPS 13 takes over Apple's 13-inch MacBook Air with 921 and 721 points respectively. Although the score difference does not mean too much, reviews now consider XPS 13 an unexpected and strong competition.
The report show the full HD XPS 13 offers an impressive battery performance that bested MacBook Air and other laptop brands in the market of the same bodily bearing. Accordingly, the laptop brand has "high quality build materials, a good keyboard, a good trackpad, and the latest generation Intel Ultrabook processor all inside a chassis with a display that is two sizes too big stuffed into it."
Ars wrote the same analysis praising XPS 13 and called it the "PC laptop to beat."
"This extraordinary size is paired with an attractive, high-resolution screen, nice keyboard, and a decent touchpad, and the whole unit feels solid and well-built," the review stated.
Best results of the test detailed the specifications which follows-multi-touch 13.3-inch (3200x1800 PPI) display, 3.0 GHz Core i7-5500U, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM, 512 GB PCle SSD hard disk drive, 11.98x7.88x0.33-0.6-inch in size, ultralight 2.8 lbs. weight, 4-cell 52 Wh Li-polymer battery, precision touch pad, and 720p webcam.
Dell also boasts its "infinity display" whose bezel measures as slim as 5mm all around. The narrow bezel makes the footprint smaller, which also makes the machine tinier than any other 13-inch laptop. The inside of the machine is black with keyboard surround being a "carbon fiber composite with soft touch paint."
XPS badge can be found underneath the machine which shows various regulatory stamps and serial numbers. Its keyboard has decent layout and backlight and good-size keys ideal for effortless typing when on travel.
Dell debuted XPS 13's appearance at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) last January in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Dell XPS 13 sells at $1,899.99.
