Mortal Kombat X Online Mode is Free to Play; Requires PS Plus, XBL Gold Registration to Connect

By

NetherRealm Studios has already confirmed that Mortal Kombat X online mode doesn’t require any paid membership to participate. This is good newsy to many MKX players since they can get it on with other players online whether or not they are on paid subscription.

Game producer Shaun Himmerick first revealed on Twitter with the handle “lover_of_tacos” that, "PS (PlayStation) Plus is not needed for any feature of MKX." He also added that Xbox Live Gold is not necessary.

However, it appears that the producer made an error, and noticed how the wrong message spread across the internet. He later deleted the first two tweets and made a third one that goes, “Mistype. Console rules apply.”

If the Himmerick’s first statements are true, this could mean that Xbox Live and PS Plus is doing away with their rules, in which they have been consistent on the previous games. It could also mean like an open window to other game publishers since it also means fewer restrictions to gamers whenever they decided to play a certain game online. Unfortunately, it’s not how some of the gamers think would work.

A variety of Mortal Kombat X online mode will be available besides the typical head-on combats. The Living Towers mode where players are given with a set of unique challenges. Faction Wars enables players to join in one out of five teams and try to earn as many points as possible for their faction every week. The winning faction at the end of the week will have access to exclusive benefits.

Mortal Kombat X is set to be released on April 14th. It will be playable on various platforms like Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC. The game comes in many different edition packages that are currently available for pre-order. More details about Mortal Kombat X online mode would be available before it is officially released this April.
