After his twin Grammy win on Feb 8, Kendrick Lamar makes it to the headline this week by grabbing the no. 2 spot on the Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks chart with his recently released single from his new album that is yet to be slated for a release date.
His new song, 'The Blacker the Berry' launched on YouTube this month has recorded more than 3.8 million global views from the time of release on February 8 up to February 18.
Billboard noted that this is Lamar's second-highest peak among his seven chart entries - the top song was 'I' topping the charts on October 11 last year and winning him his two Grammy awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance.
News Everyday reported that "The Blacker the Berry" single of Kendrick Lamar has drawn tons of appreciation.
Oswegonian writes, "The lyrical aspect of this song stands out the most because it's been a long time since a rapper has decided to tackle the topic of racial injustice and stereotypes in their music. The Blacker the Berry" is a representation of why the genre of hip hop was started in the first place, as it demands listeners to pay attention to its meaning so they too can be aware of the issues."
Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar is reportedly set to take the stage at the 2015 Sasquatch! Festival over Memorial Day Weekend at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Quincy, Washington. He will also be among the main performers at the UK Wireless Festival in London on July 3 - 5.
He is also scheduled to grace the three-day 2015 Essence festival opening on July 2 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Information regarding Kendrick Lamar's new album release date is scarce at this time, however, fans might just have to know more from the rapper who is scheduled to appear in a lineup of music festivals taking place this year.
