MacBook Pro 2015 Release Roundup: Dual Graphics Setup, Broadwell Chips, Touch ID, and Possible Summer Release Date

By

The 2015 MacBook Pro's release may not be confirmed yet, but this has not stopped rumors about the new MacBook from circulating. Currently, the MacBook Pro 2015 is touted to come with Broadwell Core M processors, a Touch ID sensor, and a dual-graphics card setup.

The new MacBook Pro is one of the anticipated products from Apple this year, with its unveiling possibly happening at the WWDC 2015. According to Design & Trend, "Like previous-generation MacBook Pro models, the 2015 version is most likely to be unveiled at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference in June." Following this, the 2015 MacBook Pro might be available in the summer.

As for specs, the new MacBook, along with the 12-inch MacBook Air, is said to run on Intel Broadwell Core M processors. At 4.5 watts and running on lower frequencies, fifth gen Broadwell chips are said to give the 2015 MacBook a longer battery life than 2014 MacBook Pro's nine hours.

Apple is also allegedly gearing for a dual-graphics card setup with the GeForce 800M series. However, this might only be available for the higher-end models.

The TouchID sensor, which iPhone and iPad models were first seen sporting, may also be expected on the new MacBooks. The feature was first rumored to be included in the specs of the 2014 MacBook Pro, but that has not happened.

Further strengthening rumors of the 2015 MacBook Pro hitting the markets soon are the price reductions on non-Retina MacBook Pro, 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display, and 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display, Christian Today reports. Amazon offers $90 less the non-Retina MacBook, while MacMall has a $70 "mail-in rebate" for the 13.3-inch version.

While new things are expected from the 2015 MacBook, owners of earlier models are reportedly finding difficulties with their existing models. According to Apple, "A small percentage of MacBook Pro systems may exhibit distorted video, no video, or unexpected system restarts." Specifically, 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro systems and 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina models sold from February 2011 to December 2013 seem to be affected by the issue.
