Ben Jones, better known by his stage name Ben Hardy joins X-Men Apocalyspe cast. The English actor will be playing a key role of which is still undisclosed to the follow-up of 2014 X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Hardy is best known for his role (especially in England), in United Kingdom's highest-rated program EastEnders, as Peter Beale. A spokeperson for the long-time running soap opera confirmed that Hardy will no longer play the fictional character as of November 19, 2014 last year. The 24-year-old actor who has been a part of the soap for two years had his final scenes aired in last Tuesday's episode. He was quoted as saying in this clip from the episode as: "I'm going away for a while to stay with Steven in New Zealand." The ending premise to is that he will be running off to New Zealand with girlfriend, Lauren Branning.
X-Men: Apocalypse will be his first progression fo Hardy from television to feature films. He will be together with such Hollywood A-List celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne and James McAvoy who will all be reprising their roles as Mystique, Magneto, Beast, Moira MacTaggert and Professor X respectively. Hardy comes next in line to Kodi Phee Smith, who will play Nightcrawler, as one of the recently cast actors this month of February for the film. New cast members also included Golden Globe nominee, Oscar Isaac who will play the titular villain En Sabah Nur aka Apocalypse, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops and Alexandra Shipp as Storm.Originally, Hardy was part of a screening for those tested to play the role of Cyclops and then was also heard next to play Angel, but a lot of insiders say that his key-role is still really being kept as a secret.
X-Men: Apocalypse will still be directed by Bryan Singer with a script from Singer, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris both fo X2 and Superman Returns.
