5 Seconds of Summer is nominated for APRA Awards 2015 happening in Sydney March 24. The band will be competing for Pop Work of the Year and Most Played Australian Work. Meanwhile, lead singer Luke Hemmings revealed that he never expected to be a rockstar.
Sia, 5 Seconds of Summer and Sheppard are among the top contenders at 2015 Australian Performing Right Association (APRA) Awards. APRA AMCOS released the list of nominees this year. It can be noticed that Sia's "Chandelier", Sheppard's "Geronimo" and the pop-punk boy band's "She looks so perfect" are competing for Pop Work of The Year and Most Played Australian Work.
5 Seconds of Summer also included in the Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year, contending the newcomer pop group Sheppard.
While 5SOS going through a smooth road to the top, the lead singer Luke Hemmings told Capricho Magazine that he never expected to become a rock star, but he always knew that he would be famous. Until he found three other guys who felt the same way he did, luckily.
"We never expected this. I never expected to be a rock star, but we had faith," Hemmings revealed to the source.
From the handful of people they normally played to a famous boy band, they were extremely surprised at how much popularity they have now.
Hemmings explained that after playing arenas for One Direction, they told themselves they would return to perform in the same stage making headlines.
"It's going to be incredible to do an arena tour. The second support tour we did was in arenas... I remember going on stage and us saying to each other, 'we're going to be back here next year', and not knowing that we would be, so it's awesome," the frontman continued.
It was learned that the Australian boy band recently stayed in Los Angeles before hitting the road, where they worked on the follow up to their first self-titled album.
It is quite interesting how the 5 Seconds of Summer has started before getting the spot, including their recent nomination for APRAS Awards 2015.
