Samsung Galaxy S6 vs Galaxy Edge; Key Features, Similarities and Differences

By

Top Samsung executives have unveiled last Sunday, March 1 in Barcelona, Samsung's most revolutionary and cutting-edge Galaxy series -- the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

Both products look remarkably similar with their 5.1-inch display, 577 pixels per inch resolution, the same is ran by an octo-core processor, the Samsung Exynos with four cores clocked at 2.1GHz and another four at 1.5GHz. They also come with the most radical change to the Galaxy series to date - the lack of microSD bay and a battery that is not removable.

So what is the big deal about releasing these two models? Here are prominent differences that will help you decide.

Display. Although both came with the same display size and resolution, Galaxy S6 Edge has a dual-curved design that makes the screen look as if the edges are flowing gracefully on both sides. This design feature is said to greatly increase the user experience along with other significant features of the Galaxy S6 although the feature is dubbed to be more of aesthetic than an overall functionality advantage.

Size. Galaxy S6 is slightly thinner at 143.4 x 70.5 x 6.8mm and weighing 138g over Galaxy S6 Edge at 142.1 x 70.1 x 7.0mm weighing 132g. Although not a significant difference, people will see much when placing both products side-by-side.

Features. One of the notable differences between Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge is the caller feature where Edge displays a specific color when the phone receives a call. In this manner, there will be no need to pick up the phone or hear it to recognize who is calling.

Carriers and Price. Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge also vary considerably when it comes to its carrier and unit price. Both will be available on AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, U.S. Cellular and T-Mobile. Galaxy S6 will also be under Boost Carrier, MetroPCS and Cricket Wireless but all of these 3 carriers have yet to confirm if S6 Edge will also be available. Lastly, in the recent price scout from several websites, a lot expects Edge to be more expensive than Galaxy S6 reaching up to a $150 difference.
