Mumford and Sons has unveiled their latest album 'Wilder Mind' Monday. The album, which takes on an electric direction, will have its release on 4th of May via Glassnote Records.
The band did not waste to promote their new craft on Twitter:
"We spent 2014 writing and recording this record. It's been a liberating and unifying experience for us as a band, and we're proud of what's come out. It was about songs, first and foremost. And then of course the sound we felt supported those songs best. It was fun. Here it is... Our 3rd album."
Mumford and Sons also revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone that they have charted a new direction for their music-it is more electric with U2-sized guitars, synths, spacey mellotrons and even some drum machines.
"We felt that doing the same thing, or the same instrumentation again, just wasn't for us," says frontman Marcus Mumford. "We've got a broader taste in music than just that." Adds Dwane, "None of us had really any interest in doing a sort of Babel 2. It was always going to be different."
After rumors of breakup and hiatus, Mumford and Sons are definitely back in the game, reported Consequence of Sound. The band had been in nonstop tour to support their album 'Babel.' Consequently, they were worn out physically and musically.
It cannot be denied that the singing group faced a lot of obstacles along the way with Dwane and banjoist-guitarist Winston Marshall seeing their long-term relationships crumble. The heartbreaks even inspired songs like 'Believe' and 'Only Love.'
"Half of the band has gone one way towards this sort of happy marriage, and the other half has gone the opposite direction to a lonely single existence," says Dwane with a laugh.
"So there was sort of two people writing from one spectrum and two people writing from the opposite spectrum. Certainly the sentiments expressed on the album are all drawn from personal experience, unfortunately."
Mumford and Sons will be back on stage with a headlining appearance at Bonnaroo with summer dates with Foo Fighters, My Morning Jacket, among others.
