'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain' Release Date: Worldwide launching announced; Hideo Kojima reveals saga's final title

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain release date has been confirmed to get a global launch on September 1 in a video that has been accidentally leaked on gaming site IGN which had been removed afterwards.

The new game will hit PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoled and PC platforms which Kojima Productions had planned to reveal the announcement today, March 4.

The game's publisher, Konami, basedin Japan had tapped IGN as a partner in preparation for the big announcement today, however, the video was inadvertently posted too soon which was discovered right away NeoGAF member Nibel.

The purported video ends with a a display of the game's title, above the words "World Wide Release, September 1, 2015."

"Snake will be more of a silent protagonist, similar to Mad Max in 'Mad Max 2,'" game director and producer Hideo Kojima, 51, apparently said in the leaked video. "It's the characters around him who will expand the story."

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain features Snake after he wakes up from a nine-year coma. Snake has lost a lot of his abilities, and must crawl through a hospital to escape, Anime News Network wrote.

Kojima has also confirmed that 'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be the last title in the saga.

"I'm finally closing the loop on that saga," Kojima added. "In that sense, this will be the final 'Metal Gear Solid.' Even if the 'Metal Gear' franchise continues, to me, this is the last 'Metal Gear.'"

Kojima has co-written 'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain' as the latest entry in the series since 'Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes' which debuted March 2014 in North Amercia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Europe. Both of these games will be released for PC via Steam in the future.

The franchise is on its 18 year run with the first installment of the series coming to the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987 across North America.

Kiefer Sutherland voices the game's protagonist, Snake, produced and directed by Kojima. Yoji Shinkawa serves as character and mechanical designer, Hideki Sasaki as CG art director, Junji Tago as technical director, and Masayuki Suzuki as lighting artist.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain release date arrives September 1 across all countries in the world on Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 consoles and on PC via Steam succeedingly.
