Television’s leading police procedural drama NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) continues to go full steam ahead with Season 12’s finale just a few dead sailors away. However, the run up to the finale can be just as exciting, if the next episode entitled ‘The Artful Dodger’ is any indication.
In Episode 17, our intrepid team of Navy cops set out to recover a priceless painting that was stolen and replaced with a fake, according to spoilers from the International Business Times. Without a doubt, Very Special Agent Anthony “Tony” DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) won’t be able to help but draw parallels between this latest caper and the 1999 hit movie, Thomas Crowne Affair, which starred Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo!
Speaking of the DiNozzos, teasers have it that frequent guest Robert Wagner, will once again reprise his recurrent role as Anthony DiNozzo Sr. in this episode. Tony’s man-about-town slash con-artist Dad will be provisionally recruited by NCIS to serve as a consultant in this rather unconventional assignment. Lead agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) will apparently come to the conclusion that the art black market connections of “DiNozzo Senior” can prove invaluable in cracking this case. Episode 17 airs March 10 on CBS.
The original NCIS has proved so successful in keeping audiences glued to their living room sofas since 2003 that it has spawned two spin-offs, NCIS Los Angeles and more recently, NCIS New Orleans. Both spin-offs were given back-door introductions by way of the original NCIS series.
The great success of NCIS can without a doubt be attributed to its top-notch cast including Harmon, Weatherly , Sean Murray (Agent McGee) Pauly Perrette (forensics tech Abby), David McCallum (medical examiner Dr. Ducky Mallard) as well as Cote de Pablo (Agent Ziva David), who recently left the show. In some behind the scenes moments published on CBS, actor Weatherly shows fans how he stays fit in order to keep up with the demands of filming NCIS Season 12.
