After episode 18 of Gotham, Fox TV's hit series joins the league of Fox shows that will take hiatus for a month; but trailer and cast interviews reveal the series debut of some of history's most iconic villains - The Joker and Scarecrow. The Penguin is excited to welcome the rest of Gotham City's hooligans.
The last episode entitled "Everyone Has a Cobblepot" did not center on the would-be The Penguin but he still manages to be a scene-stealer in the last few minutes of the show. Being the manipulative lackey of Fish Mooney, Cobblepot easily made his way through the dangerous game of Gotham vice.
Recall that on the last episode, Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock investigate on Arnold Flass' prison escape. After carefully looking at several angles they conclude that Commission Gillian Loeb plays a role in the run off. Since both Gordon and Bullock find it hard to prove Lass' guilt - they agreed to employ the service of Oswald Cobblepot.
However, our would-be The Penguin did not play the good guy here; in fact the episode showed how merciless and cunning Cobblepot can get. He arranged for the couple to fight each and when one of them is already dead, he brings out his gun and says he allowed both of them to kill each other since he (Cobblepot) has only one bullet left on this gun. Sinister!
Surely, there is more to expect from The Penguin on the extended season episodes of Gotham and his brief encounter with Edward Nygma in the police station suggests The Penguin might be shortly joined by The Joker, Scarecrow or even, The Catwoman.
Furthermore, in an interview by ComicBookResources, Robin Lord Taylor who plays The Penguin reveals that he is anticipating how brilliantly the meeting with the rest of the villains will be. "That's one of the things I'm most excited about as we go on", Taylor says. "We all know what happens in the future, but the first meeting is so exciting. It sets the tone for how the two of us are going to interact in the future. I can't wait. The first season is a lot about the Penguin's rise. I'm just waiting for everybody to have their moment so I get to play with them. It's going to be amazing," he adds.
