Sister Wives is becoming more controversial. What do you expect? Only a small percentage of the world's population is open to this kind of family setup. While the show is clearly giving us a picture on how a polygamous family rolls, we want to know more what are the benefits of being into one.
I have found one source which is very interesting as you can find battling reasons why or why not a polygamous setup is to be practiced. For those who say yes, they believe that it is ok to have more than one partner because it is more practical, economically speaking. Plus, they think that the ratio of men and women isn't equal thus, defending their stand that men could have more wives. The more traditional ones, on the other hand, would involve the Almighty One in the scenario. They believe that sex should be only between one man and one woman. Also, one of the disadvantages is that most countries do not honor multiple marriages and that those who are 'extra' might not receive the same benefits enjoyed by the legal partner.
That's exactly what the Sister Wives recently showed its audience. If you can remember, Meri finally decided to divorce Kody to favor Robyn's children. You can find the story here. Just so you know, Robyn's kids aren't Kody's. That means, they were not able to enjoy the benefits which his other children were able to get. The only way he could resolve this is if he will marry Robyn.
Now, the new challenge that they will need to face is Robyn's ex-partner. Hopefully, he won't give the new legally married couple a hard time.
By the looks of it, being in a polygamous family is never going to be easy. With our current laws and regulations, it's hard to balance and weigh family decisions. Obviously, Meri had a hard time doing it. Perhaps she felt that as a part of the family, she needed to do what was righteous. Apparently, that earned her more supporters. Some even push her to leave Kody's family behind to start a new one.
In the meantime, let's just wait for another season of Sister Wives. I know that we would be able to catch more drama from it.
