Spring Forward, the much anticipated Apple event this March 9 and the company's first since September last year will not only unveil Apple Watch. Gossips from different websites that claims to have exclusive insider access are quite certain that Apple will finally introduce, in this event, the gigantic 12-inch Retina MacBook Air.
The 12-inch Retina MacBook Air is said to be Apple's thinnest (perhaps just as thin as iPhone 6) and lightest. However, the buzz about this legendary Mac is not something fresh. As early as last year, speculations on the device have been circulating on the internet and initially thought of to be released by early 2015.
Now, what do leading Mac enthusiasts has to say about March 9's Spring Forward?
First off is no less than The Wall Street Journal. In an article recently published by TWSJ, Apple manufacturers from around the world confirm they will only start parts production for the larger-screen devices in the second half of 2015. Apple arrive with this decision as the company is reported to be still coping up from its continuing sales declines. Moreover, Apple is also in a fierce competition with other tech leaders when it comes to novel application development hence public introduction of the Retina MacBook Air is not possible until mid 2015.
Macworld forecasts a similar scenario. They say that the 12-inch Retina MacBook Air is possible but highly unlikely. Spring Forward, they stress is Apple's first step into the world of smart wearables. Also, Apple is now targeting a new set of demographics, from the techno geeks to those keen on fashion, Macworld adds.
Macrumors, another reliable source of Apple news and scoops, suspects that Apple will instead release updates of their current MacBook line than introduce a new one. Macrumors posts links from the Chinese site Feng.com that visibly shows a MacBook Air that runs with an Intel Core 1.6GHz i5-5250U processor and an Intel HD Graphics 6000.
It seems that the votes over what device will star March 9's Spring Forward favors the Apple Watch and wait until the June for release date announcement for the Retina MacBook Air.
