Outlander Renews for Season 2 and Will Surprise Book Readers; Expect New Twists and Turns in the Story.

Fans are increasingly thrilled of the upcoming season 2 of Outlander. They speculate that the hit Starz series renews following the second book, Dragonfly in Amber. Outlander is an 8-book anthology written by Diana Gabaldon and published in the course of 23 years from 1991 to 2014.

Starz hit an unquestionably record-breaking success with Outlander and CEO Chris Albrecht mentions the decision to renew the show for its sophomore season is an easy one. He states that the positive response towards their "labor of love" is gratifying and they are sure to offer more for Season 2.

"We're obviously doing the second book, we certainly have plans to continue with the franchise... [and] hopefully it will be around forever," reveals Albrecht at the Television Critics Association's press tour.

However, Outlander viewers should expect a few changes incorporated within the second season. In an exclusive interview conducted by Zap2it with the series' executive producer Ron Moore, he reveals that things may be quite different than the previous season that closely followed the book.

Moore suggests this is done to keep the interest of the fans glued. He further teases that with regards to the Dragonfly in Amber, they will experiment on its structure that will surely surprise readers of the book. "It is interesting, when you open the second book, and you're like, 'Wait a minute, did I miss something?'" Moore says. "Which is great on one level, because any time you can surprise an audience, that's gold. They get used to knowing what's going to happen next. So, I want to preserve that, but I think there's way to tinker with it, and play around with it so it's not quite as jarring, so you don't feel like you've clicked into the wrong show," he adds.

Since Starz's Spartacus debuted, the company has released shows to match other networks' viewership. However, despite the show's debut episode reaching a viewership network record of 3.7 million audiences, the number still dwarfs HBO's Game of Throne's 18.4 million viewers. The official announcement of Outlander's new season may just be the stepping stone for the network's viewership goal looking at the show's incredible positive feedback.
