iPhone 7 Update: Release Date, Waterproof Build, Plus Killer Designs

While the next iPhone smartphone has not been officially named by Apple, reports swirling consider it either iPhone 6S or iPhone 7. Whichever is closer to reality, Apple fanboys seem not to care about its name for now as the launch announcement is far more important.

Killer specs are expected to come out with the next Apple smartphone's branding as the competition in the market stiffens with Samsung, HTC and LG. Apple is bringing in success features of iPad Air 2 to the next iPhone 7 following its tablet's debut of Apple SIM and 2 GB of RAM taking the tech market by storm.

The Cupertino tech giant is reportedly to put in the new device a pre-installed Apple SIM which will allow users to choose which mobile carrier they would like to enroll to as they remove it from the packaging. From the current iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus 1 GB of RAM, Apple is also reported to double iPhone 7's RAM size. iPhone 7 is expected to sport a 4.7-inch display.

Meanwhile, Force Touch technology will also come out with the new device. Force Touch has been incorporated in iWatch primarily to distinguish a tap and a press. Experts consider this a smart move for the tech titan since users will be given a wide variety of gestures, which is believed to enhance the iPhone experience.

Apple's next processor called A9 will be manufactured by strong rival Samsung Electronics and Global Foundries with their 14nm FinFET technology. A9 processor will enhance its graphics performance and power efficiency, 50 percent better than A8 and A7.

A computer-generated headset and display patent is tipped to be featured. It is a wearable electronic device. The US Patent has information No. 8,957,835 named "Head-Mounted Display Apparatus for Retaining a Portable Electronic Device with Display."

In terms of edges, iPhone is expected to make head-on rounds with Samsung's Galaxy S6 and Note Edge with the removal of the bezel and the presence of touchscreen sides. Like Amazon's failed Fire Phone, Apple is rumored to push through with the 3D technology on the phone's display.

iPhone's Touch ID sensor is reported to be ramped up by placing it on the screen from its current location on the home button. This technology is also expected to intensify security of Apple Pay. Powered by KGI Securities, Apple Pay with Touch ID sensor can trace down gait, vocabulary and grammar, location data, and even magnetic fields.

iPhone is also said to sport a wireless charging capacity. The Power Matters Alliance (PMA), whose members include Samsung, Huawei, Toshiba, Qualcomm and Microsoft, is working to bring a universal wireless charging standard. For Apple to get ahead, they are expected to pre-empt the latest technology development.

A big improvement in camera is also expected as the phone will wear a 20 MP back-facing camera with a DLSR-quality result set to replace the common True Tone flash technology.

A report suggests that Apple has been granted a patent request submitted lately a new patent related to a waterproof feature for the upcoming device. The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has allowed Apple to manufacture a waterproof device "that can help battle moisture ingress and water moisture in smartphones."

According to the same report, the advancement will involve crusting internal parts with hydrophobic coating as thin as a micron. This can be done by inserting the component in a compartment packed with fluoropolymer gas. Voltage will then be applied to convert the gas into plasma, which will then stick to the component.

Samsung has done a waterproof and dustproof with its Galaxy S5 smartphone.

While the imminent iPhone 6s is reported to release in August or September 2015, iPhone 7 is also rumored to be launched in October 2015. Other reports suggest that iPhone 6S and iPhone 7 might be of the same identity. iPhone 7 is reported to be released by September 2015.
