"May the Force be with you" the well-known phrase used to wish luck or good will in the Star Wars universe is now contrary to popular belief, losing its enchantment on the returning cast members. That is asking Carrie Fisher, after the recent freak accidents that involved two actors from the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie.
The 58-year-old Fisher revealed that she herself narrowly escaped a horrible car accident in Los Angeles last Sunday. Sometime last week, her co-star Harrison Ford was compelled to make an emergency landing on a golf course when his vintag single-engine plane encountered mechanical problems. Ford managed to survived the wreckage with just multiple injuries which included gashes to the head, a fractured pelvis and a broken ankle.
The actress has now reason to believe that the Star Wars franchise is cursed. Fisher ominously told Britain's Mail on Sunday that, "Things happen in threes. I'm about to call (co-star) Mark Hamill to make sure he's OK. I have a horrid feeling there's a curse going on here." Fisher, Ford and Hamill will all be reprising their roles as Princess Leia, Han Solo and Luke Skywalker respectively, almost 30 years prior to 1983's "Return of the Jedi".
Ford's dramatic landing came just months after the door of the "Millenium Falcon", landed on his leg and shattered his bone. The actor had to exclude himself from filming during the recovery. This was not the first time that the 72-year-old actor cheated death. In 1999 he crashed his helicopter in the desert just outside Los Angeles and in the succeeding year, he was again forced to crash-land a plane in Nebraska. Both tragic incidents involved motor failure.
Fisher and Ford's third wife, Callista Flockhart of Ally McBeal fame both had echoed the same sentiment that the actor's passion for flying should be brought to an end and now is the right time as the next one could be truly fatal.
