While it's still a few years away, Director James Cameron teased fans of the plot for the upcoming movie. Recent reports also indicate that the first trailer of the upcoming will be revealed this year during the premiere of the reboot of "Fantastic Four".
The highly anticipated sequel for the 2009 "Avatar" is still a few years away before being released but there are recent reports that indicate that its first official trailer will be revealed this 2015. According to the report, the silence and secrecy in the filming of "Avatar 2" could be a marketing strategy and they aim to surprise their fans in the upcoming premiere of Fantastic Four.
In related news, James Cameron revealed the plot for his plans in his Avatar Trilogy. The award winning director said that fans will get be able to follow the story of Jake Sully, the protagonist in the first "Avatar" movie, in the upcoming "Avatar 2" movie. According to the director, viewers may expect to see more of Jake Sully and his extended family in the world of Pandora. He revealed that "It's going to be a lot of new imagery and a lot of new environments and creatures across Pandora."
There are recent rumors that suggest that James Cameron will be leaving Pandora in the Avatar sequel. The helmsman previously considered it saying that "We're blowing it out all over the place. At first I thought I was going to take it onto other worlds as well, in the same solar system," however he did no proceed with the plan saying that "but it turned out not to be necessary."
Avatar 2 will be exploring more of the world of Pandora and Cameron revealed that "There are underwater scenes and surface-water scenes having to do with indigenous ocean cultures that are distributed across the three films." He even compares it to "The Godfather" trilogy explaining that Jake Sully and Neytiri will be building their new families in the upcoming sequel.
Sigourney Weaver will be back in Avatar 2 but she will be returning as a different character as her previous role as Dr. Grace Augustine was killed in the first Avatar movie. She will join Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, and Stephen Lang.
"Avatar 2" will be released on December 25, 2017. Fans can expect another sequel since James Cameron already laid down his plans for an Avatar Trilogy.
