Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao Fight Update: Mayweather Starts Second Week of Training; Pacquiao Begins Conditioning in LA Training Home

By

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has begun his second week of "tremendous" training in preparation for his highly anticipated mega fight with Manny Pacquiao on May 2 in Las Vegas. Pacquiao, on the other hand, has recently returned to his local training home in Hollywood to begin his conditioning with long-time trainer Freddie Roach.

Since their fight was officially announced on February 21, the undefeated American boxing champ has been sharing regular updates for fans. Recently, he revealed on Instagram that he has begun his second week of training ahead of his showdown with the Filipino champ. In the video he posted on his Instagram account, the 38-year-old is shown working on his fitness and having a sparring session inside the boxing ring.

Mayweather last week talked about his preparations for his upcoming fight, claiming that the first four days of his training camp had "gone tremendous thus far," MailOnline reported. He called his $300million Las Vegas showdown with Pacquiao "the biggest fight in boxing history."

The undefeated world champion, speaking to Fight Hype, said: 'It is always being at your best, pushing yourself to the limit and just being sharp and smart." He also thanked boxing legends such as Roberto Duran, Myke Tyson, Sugar Ray Robinson and the others who "paved the way for me to be where I am at today."

Meanwhile, Manny Pacquio returned to his local training home in the U.S. to start conditioning his body for his much-talked-about showdown with Floyd in May. The 37-year-old People's Champ began his training camp at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood Monday with his trainer Freddie Roach, according to LA Times.

While some boxing fans and observers claimed that the Floyd-Manny mega fight is five years too late, Pacquiao disagreed, saying: "It'll be as good of a fight as it would've been five years ago. The same." He maintained that both he and the 38-year-old American boxer are "still at the top." The Filipino boxing icon claimed that he is "100% confident" that he will beat his long-term rival.

The two boxing greats are scheduled to meet face to face for a pre-fight press conference on Wednesday, March 11 in Los Angeles, California.
