Academy Award winner Ed Harris had addressed rumors of the validity that he will be a part of Warner Bros. Entertainment's "Suicide Squad" cast. The actor though has been considered to portray veteran ace pilot Rick Flag Sr. earlier this year.
The story was brought into light during the film promotion of Harris' upcoming action thriller entitled "Run All Night". The film also stars Joel Kinnaman, who in a coincidental manner has already been billed to play military specialist son, Rick Flag Jr. So it was anticipated that Harris would be quizzed on if he will be joining the cast during the press junket.
"I don't know anything about that," Harris subtly replied via ScreenRant. Howerever, the "A History of Violence" actor continued by stating, "Joel mentioned that there was something he wanted me to look at, or think about doing, but I don't know if that was it or not."
His co-star, the 35-year-old Kinnaman is best known for playing the lead role in the Swedish film Easy Money and Alex Murphy in the rebooted 2014 version of RoboCop. Kinnaman later shared to the press, his pre-production insights about the "Suicide Squad" and its director David Ayer.
"Even though this is a massive superhero production it's an amazing story."
The Swede, who managed to nabbed the role from such marquee players like Tom Hardy, Jay Hernandez and Jake Glyllenhaal also added that, "Sometimes you're worried, if you're going to do a film like that, that it's just going to be superhero fun but nothing's going to go under the surface. But here I feel like we can get both."
If Harris does accept the role, the three-time Oscar nominee will be joining an ensemble cast that includes Will Smith (Deadshot), Jared Leto (the Joker), and TV's How To Get Away With Murder Viola Davis (Amanda Waller). The film is set for an August 5, 2016 opening.
