Homeland fans will be looking at an entirely different setting come Homeland Season 5. Show creators have teased that the show will seeing some major changes in the upcoming season.
"We're not necessarily going to stay [with addressing] U.S. relations in the Muslim world." said Showtime president David Nevins. The president had hinted that Homeland Season 5 will be seeing a whole new locale following Homeland Season 4.
"We're going to jump two and a half years forward. We are going to be shooting the show in Europe - probably in Germany - and Carrie will no longer be an intelligence officer." teased show writer Alex Gansa.
While the series is certainly no stranger to major time skips, fans of Homeland are hoping that there will be no major changes when it comes to Carrie's personality. What will become of the CIA agent now that she has quit her career as an intelligence officer? In recent Homeland Season 5 spoilers news, it seems like Carrie will always have some sort of political drama following her.
"How difficult it is to be America in the world in the 21st century, how difficult the choices are." Nevins hinted.
Could ISIS play a role in the upcoming Homeland Season 5? In the previous season, Quinn was seen flying off to Syria so an ISIS storyline just might be in the cards.
"Front and center (is) what's happening in Syria and Iraq. . .We try to humanize our villains and our adversaries. People down there are difficult to humanize and to understand. How do we dramatize - do we give them a platform? I don't know" Gansa said.
Claire Danes, who plays Carrie in the show has also dropped some hints regarding Carrie's fate in the upcoming episodes. The actress teased that fans should expect 'no happy endings' for Carrie.
"There are very, very few representations of motherhood that are at all controversial on television, and I know personally it's a very complex experience. I don't know if there is a greater taboo than an unloving mother." Danes said.
The new season will start filming in May and Homeland Season 5 will debut in the fall of 2015.
