James Bond Update: Spectre Will Have The First Mexican Bond Girl

Actress Stephanie Sigman is the latest addition to the cast of the upcoming James Bond film. Spectre is the twenty-fourth film in the British spy series and it will also mark as the first time that a Mexican woman will play Agent 007's possible love interest.

The 28-year-old will be joining other Bond girls Monica Belluci (Lucia Sciarra) and Lea Seydoux (Dr. Madeleine Swann) as a character named Estrella. Her role has not yet been specified if she will play an ally or enemy. Daniel Craig has reprised his debonair portrayal of the British secret agent named, James Bond. This will be Craig's fourth Bond film and director Sam Mendes' second helm behind the camera.

Sigman according to imdb.com is best known for the following films namely: Pioneer (2012) which deals with a tragic Norwegian deep-sea freak accident, Rio de Oro (2010) which is set in 1852 on Sonora, Mexico during the Apache wars and the Academy Award-nominated film Miss Bala (2011) in which her lead role assigned her to be a vengeful beauty pageant contestant. She also had an expansive role on television with FX's "The Bridge", as well as the Netflix series "Narcos."

Meanwhile, both Belluci and Seydoux shared the same sentiments of not just being an eye candy for the film. French actor Seydoux, 29 in an another interview just last month that she would not be playing a "stereotyped Bond girl", adding: "You can't like, 'Oh, James.' You have to find something else." Bellucci, the 50-year-old actress even revealed that she asked Mendes why he had approached her for the role, teilling the Oscar-winning film-maker: "I'm not a girl, I'm a woman, I'm a mature woman. Do I have to replace Judi Dench?"

Craig himself also truly needed some attention, albeit of a medical kind last month. Doctors were called after a high-speed car chase resulted in the actor hitting his head on the car's interior.
