While many of Samsung Electronics' handset devices have now been updated with Android 5.0 Lollipop, Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S4 users in Norway now fret due to Samsung withdrawing the official over-the-air (OTA) update due to bugs.
According to Samsung, the update has been withdrawn in Norway due to S5 and S4 users are experiencing bugs and firmware issues. Samsung Norway already released a statement saying the update is put "on hold" to fix the said bugs. The tech titan said they are working out the update and will be available again the soonest they get the issues fixed.
On Facebook, Samsung Norway said: "We are aware of the issues some users are experiencing after installing the update Android 5.0 Lollipop and now has stopped the current version. We work full time with a new update that contains solutions to the problems that have been reported to us, including a new solution for silent mode."
It furthered: "We hope to send out the update shortly, and will keep you updated on Facebook." A number of owners of Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S4 reported to the local Samsung with complaints about the Android 5.0 update they were receiving.
The reported bugs include random freezes of various apps like the default Phone app com.android.phone and Contacts application, crashes affecting the alarm app and some other issues. The new update also causes downtime in system behavior.
The details behind the difficult update are be numerous-ranging from an error in the shipped package, all the way to some latent bug that has been hidden away in the ROMs. Other Samsung smartphone variants update with Android 5.0 Lollipop include Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 (Russia and India), Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy S5 Mini, Galaxy S5 Active and Galaxy S5 Sport.
AT&T has officially announced on Twitter that their Galaxy S5 version will be updated with Android 5.0 this month. Other major mobile carriers Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular and T-Mobile already made the update available since February 2015. In Korea, Galaxy S5 LTE-A owners have now received also the update.
