Titanfall 2 Update: Confirmed Multiplatform Release, Single-Player Approach, Better Map in Packs

By

Titanfall 2 has officially been announced to be in development and will hit multiple platforms, including Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PC soon.

Respawn CEO Vince Zampella that the sequel to last year's Titanfall will be out soon, but as for now no official name has been dropped yet. Although Respawn has not revealed the exact date of release for now, reports suggest that it will come out this year as widely expected.

The asymmetric mech-shooter videogame has drawn raves for exceeding standard gameplay of Call of Duty's death match format by allowing players to defying giant robots to pilot mid-battle.

In an interview at the BAFTA Game Awards in London, Zampella first admitted: "I guess EA announced a sequel, so I could play coy and pretend I don't know anything about it, or... yeah. So we're working on a sequel." Titanfall is nominated in BAFTA Game Awards in three categories.

Zampella added: "No official name yet, but we're working on that. That's the main focus but we're starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow! It'll be multiplatform."

One thing Zampella was profound to go over is to change the DLC model for the future, referring to Evolve's commitment to keeping the community united via free maps for all as the ideal way forward.

According to Zampella, packed maps split the community and make matchmaking more difficult, which is messy. He added that Respawn might not do it again for the sequel, instead, make it better.

The first Titanfall was distributed exclusively to Xbox One and Xbox 360 only. Titanfall season pass will be available for free for Microsoft's game consoles. The executive is hesitant whether or not the sequel will introduce a sturdier single-player campaign as the original installment features multiplayer-only mechanism.

"We put some single-player elements in there though, and tried to mix it up. Maybe we could have mixed things up a bit better because some people blew right by it and didn't even see it because there was so much action happening around it," Zampella commented regarding the single-player approach.
