It's unbelievably a new record for Dying Light as its hits 3.2 million players as of today. Techland has announced the high record-breaking news for the best-selling game, banking on major markets in the United States, Australia, France, Poland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
Dying Light has just been launched 45 days ago, making an incredible sales record of for Techland in its history. Techland has not produced this kind of remarkable success from Dead Island, Dead Island: Riptide, and the Call of Juarez series.
Since its launch, Dying Light players have killed a total of 378,672,587 zombies and saved 5,333,912 civilians. It eclipsed other videogames with $1.25 trillion worth of in-game cash. Techland released a press statement saying: "With that timeframe applied, it makes Dying Light the most popular title in the company's history."
The open-world zombie videogame has sold 1.2 million copies in its first week and 3 million in 90 days. Dying Light surpassed Dead Island released in 2011 with 1 million copies sold in its pilot week. Last week, Techland added a free update to Dying Light containing Hard Mode, Time Trial Mode, Dune Buggies, additional outfits and weapons, more maps skills and adventure missions, various balance tweaks of weapons, loot chests, shops and crafting.
The patch offers 50 new weapons and four new outfits as a reward for finishing the story campaign. A new option enabling zombie quest when the co-op is disabled and visual improvements in world and character art have also been added.
Dying Light 1.5 patch was first available in the United State on March 10 and in Europe on March 14.
Techland also teased of what will come up in the future. Paul Milewski said the firm is constantly working on improvements for the game, including the gameplay balance and matchmaking in the zombie mode.
In a Youtube video of Ethan Shapiro, Techland is working a bow and arrow weapon. Dune Buggies and Time Trial Mode will be available soon.
Dying Light is a game about an undercover mission of a detective sent to a zombie-infested zone in a night and day cycle and dynamic weather system. It brings players with crafting abilities with more than 100 weapons that can be manufactured. Multiplayer mode features up to four players.
Dying Light was first released on January 27 for PC, Linux, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
