Game of Thrones gets too dark, too dark that the new season crosses from fantasy to horror. According to Kit Harington, the English actor who plays Jon Snow, Season 5 of this award-winning TV series is shocking. However, "shocking" is something long expected from this next instalment.
"They tend to go story season then shocking season then story season then shocking season. This is a shocking season," Harington tells Radio Times in an exclusive interview. In this same interview, the Jon Snow actor mentions the plot borders that of a "horror film".
The first episode, entitled The Wars to Come gives prelude that the new episode sums all the dark tales in the previous 4 seasons. It will take us to some of the stories of the characters and the motives they have had; also, new villains surface.
Moreover, female power soars this new season in Game of Thrones. Strong female characters like Arya Stark and Daenerys Tragaryen are on the rise. Plot spoilers show Arya hits her training to become an assassin. Also, Daenerys is shown in the most recent Game of Thrones trailer as she goes headstrong for the Iron Throne with her blazing dragons.
Moreover, the new trailer reveals what fans have been kept hanging last season - why Varys helped Tyrion escaped. The teaser shows Varys and Tyrion converse on a balcony about something serious.
"I believe men of talent have a role to play in the war to come" Varys drops.
Varys is clearly up to something and the new season will slowly unveil his strategy. Whatever his plans are, Varys thinks that Tyrion is essential in the conflict as kings and queens battle for the throne to become the sole leader of the seven kingdoms. What can these two do to help the Mother of Dragons attain the coveted throne?
