After more than two decades on being in hiatus, the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" is ready for a comeback. But this time around, the series is going out of its comfort zone and is aiming for the big screens. Unfortunately, after being rumored for a 2016 release, the return of the Rangers is rumored to be delayed.
The recent "dark Power Rangers" released on Youtube created a lot of followers and many viewers of the clip actually enjoyed the darker adaptation of the children television series. Production of the "authentic" movie might be put on hold to come up with a better script that will connect with the fans and create a spark worthy of a block-buster in the cinemas.
The delay is also allegedly due to the intention of Lionsgate and Saban Brands to reunite the former casts of the television series. They may not be capable of reprising their old roles but these characters being in the movie will complete the phenomenal return of the rangers. The fans queries on how these characters are doing now in real life, how they look like would be also a treat for the die-hard fans of the series.
Lionsgate and Saban Brands are really planning a spectacular reboot for the rangers, so a delay could actually be tolerated. The plot according to Lionsgate and Saban will resume to where the series had ended in the television screens. Rita Repulsa will still remain as the villain in the movie and will be portrayed by the popular actress Meryl Streep.
Other names being rumored to land a role in the film are Chloe Grace Moretz, Liam Hemsworth, Taylor Lautner, Michael B. Jordan, Jack Gleeson, Roshon Freegan and Jamie Chung.
An original ranger has already expressed his interest in becoming part of the movie. Austin St. John, now on his 30's portrayed the role of the lead Red Ranger back in 1993 when he was still 17. This is his reaction when asked about a possible cameo on the movie, "It was all just people I never would have dreamt would care less what I had been doing 20 years later," said John. "The only reason I am back here right now after 15 years with a successful medical career is because of the fans. That's it."
