Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson opens up on the possibility of his new superhero character, Black Adam joining the "Justice League" and eventually becoming an anti-hero.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is set to take on the role of Black Adam, an anti-hero from the DC Comics who works alongside the wizard Shazam.

While the film is yet to be released in 2019, Johnson recently opened up on his thoughts of his character being an anti-hero and joining the "Justice League."

"I think Black Adam is going to grow into becoming an anti-hero. It's all written within the spirit of respecting and paying homage to the comics," said Johnson during an interview with IGN for his upcoming movie, "Furious 7."

Johnson also recounted Black Adam's origin, stating that his character started out as a slave who was given powers by Shazam, but has unfortunately met with a certain tragedy, which leads him to misuse his powers.

According to Screen Rant, this tragedy may be the incident wherein Shazam sent him off after discovering that he misused the power he has given him.

Johnson also expressed excitement over the possibility that his character will show his heroic side at one point and eventually join the "Justice League."

He also added that he is pretty much open to seeing how Black Adam turns out eventually.

"That's the fun part about creating this character right now," Johnson said.

Black Adam may or may not join the "Justice League," but Shazam has previously been confirmed to be joining the DC Cinematic Universe together with the "Justice League" heroes.

While the movie is slated for a 2019 release, The Rock recently told MTV at the Oscars that it "may happen a little earlier than what has been predicted."

"Shazam" is still without a director, but Bill Birch will be writing the screenplay.
