'The Bold and the Beautiful' ended last week with a very curious question for its viewers: What is Maya's secret? How significant is this secret that Nicole is able to use it effectively against her? Last week's episode left fans speculating as to what this secret was, and the spoilers released by She Knows Soaps finally reveals what Maya has been hiding from Rick and the rest of the Forrester family all along - that she is transgender.
The spoilers for the March 23 episode teased that Nicole will be confronting Maya and would let slip the fact that the latter used to be the former's brother named Myron, according to an article written by Celeb Dirty Laundry. While CBS has confirmed that Maya will be a transgender character, some fans did have concerns as to how Maya's backstory would be explained.
Fortunately, yesterday's episode gave a somewhat satisfying explanation regarding Maya's past - she changed her sexual orientation while she (or he) was still young. While the two sisters were talking at the Forrester estate, Nicole revealed that she found a birth certificate along with a baby picture and bracelet that belonged to Myron Avant. Maya then explained that when she ran away at a young age, she had medical procedures done to become female. The conversation ended with Maya telling Nicole that she can be there for the latter if she lets her.
This revelation is quite shocking, as it may definitely ruin Maya's reputation and cause Rick to see her differently. Nobody knows this for a fact yet (except Nicole and the viewers), but it would be interesting to see how the reveal of Maya's sexual orientation to Rick plays out. The spoilers for this week reveal that in the coming episodes, Maya will continue talking about her past and will surprise Rick by changing her mind about Nicole's living arrangements. Fans may yet see the a continuation of either a conflict or a growing connectionb between the Avant siblings.
