In the recent years, a number of States in America already approved same-sex marriage. This is a big leap to the LGBT community. For decades, even centuries, the members of LGBT community are being discriminated in so many areas. Times have changed and even non-LGBT members are already fighting for gender equality.
According to sources, almost 70% of American voters would want a law that would stop the discrimination of a member of the LGBT community. This includes political rights, education, or even job opportunities.
There are a lot of reports pertaining to LGBT discrimination. One of the most common issues is violence. Sad to say, most gays and lesbians experience violence even at their own homes. With the 'conservative' views of older generations, it is harder for them to digest that being gay is not a sin. Another one is about job opportunities. There are still few companies who would rather choose a 'lousy' male or female for a position than a competent gay or lesbian. And this is not just at work. Some schools would actually take away scholarship grants if one is a member of the LGBT-community.
Here are some examples of anti-gay discrimination acts which received a lot of negative remarks from people all over the globe.
Based from the above result of the poll, it seems that more people are already open to the idea of gving fair and equal benefits to the LGBT. Come to think of it, those who are against these LGBT members - are they making the world a better place, or are they just creating a marginalized society which has a great potential to improve the nation? One shouldn't be deprived of benefits just because of his or her gender preference. One shouldn't be discriminated regardless if he wears a diva wig, or if she wears a moustache. Those who will run in the next election should consider this.
