Google announced fairly two weeks ago the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop to be followed by the update processes. The newest updates received favourable responses particularly on speed, improvements in security mode, multi-voice capabilities and on the featured animations embedded within the OS.
Android 5.0 Lollipop is dubbed as the largest version release by Google with over 5000 new APIs included for developers. However, the major problem based from several Nexus users is its constant consumption of RAM by the applications running in the background. These apps cause some Nexus device to crash and most of the time, the smartphone requires reboot to run again. These memory leak issues were not something new and were first reported November last year. Unfortunately, the same issues persist to date. Nonetheless, when it comes to reboot; many Nexus users report that the boot up time with Android 5.0 Lollipop is faster.
Google announces the order of updates; first is Nexus 5, then Nexus 7 and lastly 6. Even if these updates are confirmed, the exact date is still not determined although many forecast it should be by November.
On the other hand, Samsung is yet to substantiate whether the company updates their smartphones with Android 5.0 Lollipop; however, trends in the company show that they are most likely to update their flagship Galaxy phones latest by January next year.
One of the most awaited update announcements comes from LG. One source comments that LG seldom makes public remarks when it comes to updates and its schedules. To date, only LG G2 and G3 phones have confirmed to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, according to TuttoAndroid. However this update may kick-start earliest on January 2015.
Motorola on the other hand, is known to make updates whenever necessary and available. ChristianPost reports that Motorola updates Moto X, Moto G, Moto E and Droids for Android 5.0 Lollipop before this year ends.
