The upcoming LG G4 will reportedly veer away from a full metal chassis before the device reaches fans 2015 ends, according to a South Korean website.
According to ZD Net (via Google Translate), LG G4 will instead feature a polycarbonate material in the body. Polycarbonate comes from thermoplastic polymers that can be easily worked, molded and thermoformed.
In the same report, G4 is reported to give way to a more high-end device G4 Note to wear the full metal chassis. In another report, it said metal treatment also will be expensive due to CNC equipment. If reports were true, G4 Note will be the first device in LG's lineup to sport a metal body.
The G4 Note is expected to make rounds with other competing large-screen phablet devices in the market, like Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 and Apple's iPhone 6 Plus.
In a previous statement, LG is planning to soon create a more extensive use of metal in the buildup of its upcoming smartphones.
Meanwhile, two websites dedicated for LG G4 have revealed closely possible killer specs and ground-breaking features, as well as its release date and price range.
While launch date points to April 2015, LG has not confirmed anything for now with regards to the launching. However, hints have been teased of how G4 will look like.
G4 is reportedly to sport a slimmer bezel at .7mm compared to its predecessor G3 with 1.5mm bezel. With Neo-Edge technology, the device will look like a credit card with super-thin body. The phone is also reported to have a smaller 5.3-inch screen with Quad HD display.
According to the South Korean tech titan's handset division Juno Cho, LG Electronics has been investing millions of dollars to produce its own processors to cut ties with Qualcomm. The chip either be called UX 4.0 or Nunclun will replace Qualcomm's 64-bit octa-core CPU and Snapdragon 810 processor chipset. UX 4.0/Nuclun octa-core processor with LTE-A Cat6 network capabilities enables to render 4G speed up to 300 mbps.
"Producing our own mobile application chips is very important. As LG Electronics has been consistent in developing these, we plan to gradually incorporate into our new models," said Juno.
The expected LG G4 sports a dual-tone LED flash, volume rocker, laser focus, a sole speaker and a power/lock button on the back panel below the camera lens.
G4 will also have 16mp rear camera with resolution pegged at 5312×2988 pixels. It will give high resolution videos at 60 frames per second.
In terms of pricing, G4 may cost £600-£800 in UK and around $1000 in the U.S.
