After much anticipation, EA confirms fans that the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront will make its first debut on the Star Wars celebrations on April 16 -19. EA announced on their Star Wars website that the game's publisher will attend the celebrations to unveil the new Star Wars instalment for the PS4, XBO and PC.
DICE, the game developer involved with the Battlefield series, is calling all the shots in creating this Star Wars game. Fans are anticipating an epic game universe, though many have mixed feelings on the idea that DICE may turn Battlefront into a Battlefield-like experience.
One of the issues is the question whether DICE will turn Battlefront into a purely, first-person shooter or not. Fans of the franchise see Battlefront as a 3rd person experience and turning it into Star Wars: Battlefield spin-off might not be successful. Fans are also concerned on how DICE interprets the revered saga, especially the mixed reviews Battlefield: Hardline received upon its release.
In depth information about the game is still not available as the development is efficiently kept under wraps. However, Niklas Fegraeus, the game's design director, told IGN that a year-end release is planned and a summer debut will happen. Fans of the series are excited to know that EA and DICE will finally show gamers what to expect on the new Star Wars title. Though according also to Fegraeus, the game already got a close door screening with partners.
The planned year-end launch will also coincide with the film release of Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, which can really increase sales dramatically. Though appropriate as it seems, it can also force DICE to rush development just to hit this sweet spot date and give fans a hurried piece of gaming flop.
The Star Wars celebration is set on April 16 to 19 in Anaheim Convention Center, California and it will be the best place to unveil Star Wars: Battlefront to avid fans.
