Update released for Blizzard's 'Heroes of the Storm': A new hero and battleground included

By

Blizzard recently delivered a new update to "Heroes of the Storm," introducing a new hero to be used for combat and a new battleground ready for more epic confrontations.

The new hero added to the roster is Sylvanas Windrunner, a character well-known to fans of the "Warcraft" franchise. Also known as the "Banshee Queen," she is mostly known for being a highly-adept ranged combatant. She uses powerful arrows and the power of possession to inflict damage upon the enemies, according to Stuff.co.nz.

The other new addition coming via the update is the "Tomb of the Spider Queen" battleground. The new arena features three lanes infested with spider minions players can kill in order to loot gems. The gems can then be used as an offering at the Spider Queen Altar in the center of the map. After an offering is made by one side, webweavers will be summoned on the map and directed to attack the opposing side, according to Neoseeker.

50 gems are initially needed for a successful offering. The number increases by five after each wave.

Team League mode has also been added to game. In this mode, only players with levels 40 or higher who also own at least 10 different heroes can create or join teams. The new ranked game mode allows for a maximum of nine players and a minimum of five on a given team. A player can be a part of three different teams at a time.

Also provided in the update are several changes to the stats and abilities to some of the characters in the game to facilitate better gameplay balance throughout.

Blizzard also announced a 25% experience bonus for all "Heroes of the Storm" players extending all the way to 8pm on March 30.

"Heroes of the Storm" is still in closed beta, according to The Verge.

Blizzard has not yet announced an official release date for the game's full release.
