George R.R. Martin, creator of "The Song of Ice and Fire", said that that he will be focusing on writing "Winds of Winter" and will not be writing the script of any episodes for "Game of Thrones" Season 6 episodes.
In his post, Martin announced that his decision to concentrate on the writing of the much anticipated sixth book of the "The Song of Ice and Fire" series. According to his post, Martin said that he will not be writing the script for the next season of "Game of Thrones" to focus on some of his other works, including the next book.
George R.R. Martin, 66, also explained that he will also be doing other projects aside from the "Winds of Winter," this is not the only project he will be working on.
The author revealed that he will be editing the latest volume of "Wild Cards," consulting on a few video games, working as a producer for a "Wild Cards" movie, working on three new TV concepts and also focusing on his newly formed production company that will be making low budget short films.
Martin also said that, although he will not be attending World Fantasy Convention and the San Diego Comicon, it does not mean that he has cancelled all his future appearances. He clarified that it is easy for him to forego the said events since he is not the guest of honor.
George R.R. Martin confirmed that he will be attending attending the Seattle Norwescon next week and also the Conquest event over Memorial Day in Kansas City. Worried fans have contacted the Martin if he will also cancel his appearance to these events.
George R.R. Martin, also said that is going to finish the "The Winds of Winter" on his own pace, even if the TV series pulls ahead and spoil the books. Martin explained that he every time he writes, he is thinking of wanting his books to stand the test of time. "Fifty years from now nobody is going to care how frequently the books came out," he said. "They will care if the books are as good as they can possibly be, if the books stand the test of time. That's what I struggle with as I write."
He already has published five of seven planned novels. The fifth book, "A Dance With Dragons," came out in 2011, which coincided with the airing of the first adaptation of the series.
