'Captain Marvel' updates: Carol Danver role already cast and is being kept top secret by Marvel Studios

By

The age of female superheroes is upon us. When Scarlett Johansson proved to the world that Black Widow can share the big screen with the likes of Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America and Thor, she paved the way for other superheroines such as Captain Marvel and DC's Wonder Woman to have their live action movie adaptations.

Speaking of 'Captain Marvel,' a new rumor has gone out that the 2018 superheroine blockbuster already had its main star cast. In a report by Latino-Review (via articles from IGN and Cinema Blend), fans will get to see Carol Danvers in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' as part of the new lineup after the original Avengers go their separate ways. Speculation is, that the events in 'Age of Ultron' will cause Captain America to go looking for new recruits, which may be featured in the film's post-credit scene.

"The rumor is that the studio has cast the role of Carol Danvers & keeping it top secret. We will first see her in #AVENGERS #AgeofUltron as originally written in previous drafts of the screenplay. In terms of the standalone film, the Marvel brain trust has blocked out the plot & story with the intention of bringing an established writer to write the script."

The reports also claim that Marvel Studios took Jim Starlin in as a consultant for the film, and that they have also lobbied Kelly Sue DeConnick to write the movie's script. With both of the people mentioned being Marvel Comics powerhouses, it is quite clear that Marvel Studios is heading in the right direction if the rumors are indeed true.

In the comics, Carol Danvers has both human and Kree DNA due to being exposed to a Kree tech explosion. She has the powers of flight, energy emission, super strength and enhanced endurance. With the TV series 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' currently focused on the Kree-made Inhumans storyline, it is a huge possibility that Captain Marvel may really appear as early as 'Age of Ultron.'

Take everything with a grain of salt though. 'Captain Marvel' is scheduled to be released on November 2, 2018 (which is more than three years away), and all of these reports are unverified claims. Suffice to say, fans would love to see her appear in 'Captain America: Civil War' as one of the superhumans that would have to take sides in the conflict.
