Zayn Malik will rap in his solo debut album. After announcing that he is leaving the popular British boy band One Direction, Zayn Malik will reportedly release a solo album under his former band's record label, Syco.
In an interview with The Sun, Malik said that he is working on new materials for his debut album with British producer Naughty Boy, who collaborated with Sam Smith on his Grammy-winning solo debut, "In the Lonely Hour." Malik also said that he wants to try new things in his first album which include rapping. He also said that he is not is a rush to release anything just yet.
According to Daily News, Malik has a clear idea of what he wants his music to be. "Zayn has a clear vision for the music he wants to create, and the direction he wants to take his career in. He's been writing for a while now during his downtime on tour and has already recorded two tracks this week alone. The music he's making is completely different to anything One Direction have ever done before, it's very slowed down R&B and quite sexual. It's going to blow fans' minds."
The Sun claimed that Malik is reportedly eyeing a 2016 release date for his solo debut. Malik left One Direction after being in a lot of stress which caused him to abandon the band's world tour.
Incriminating photos of the former One Direction member and a woman who is not his fiancée Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards had recently emerged in the internet. The other members of the group, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, said in a statement that: "We're really sad to see Zayn go, but we totally respect his decision and send him all our love for the future.
Recently, Simon Cowell assured fans that although Zayn Malik said goodbye to One Direction, he will not be leaving the music industry. Cowell is reportedly keeping Malik signed with Syco. The former "American Idol" judge reportedly allowed Malik to get out of his contract with the band on the condition that his solo material also be released on Syco.
Apparently there's a "leaving member clause" in One Direction's deal that will allow them to continue the group as a four member band and gives the record label the option of picking up Malik's contract as a solo act.
