After the successful introduction of the Apple Watch and the Retina MacBook, the tech giant plans to release 3 new iPhone models come the second quarter of 2015 according to DigiTimes. The models are expectedly called iPhone 6S (4.7-inch), iPhone 6S Plus (5.5-inch) and iPhone 6C (4-inch) contrary to speculations that the new handset will be called iPhone 7.
The rumors about the 4-inch iPhone is not something new and sources say it was due since December last year, just a few months after iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were introduced. According to Apple CEO Tim Cook, the company's move to produce larger phones brings in a lot of Apple switchers nonetheless; they feel that the release of models with varied sizes can help Apple reach wider consumers. This move is consistent with Apple's goal to go for the kill against Android and increase further their already stunning sales records.
Furthermore, DigiTimes elaborates that these new Apple handset comes with LTPS panels. Supply for iPhone 6S Plus and iPhone 6C comes from Japan Display, Sharp and LG Display while that for the iPhone 6S from Japan Display and LG. Moreover, Wistron is expected to produce the iPhone 6C and the 6S series will be assembled by Foxconn Electronics and Pegatron, the source adds.
Further news on its specs include that the new model are fashioned by the Corning Gorilla Glass. The site confirms that 6S is powered by the A9 chip which was reportedly manufactured by Samsung Electronics since December last year. In addition, iPhone 6C maintains the A8 chip. Both iPhone 6S and 6C are equipped with the fingerprint scanning technologies. Macrumors reports as well that both the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus includes 2GB of RAM and take advantage of Apple's new technology, Force Touch. The same technology is now employed both at the Apple Watch and in the Retina MacBook.
