It is February this year when Microsoft starts slashing $100 off Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and just this month, the company gives more discounts and introduces trade-in programs for older Surface Pro models. However, the price drops just keeps on popping and most recently, one can acquire Intel Core i3 processor and 64GB of storage to a Core i5 for only $100.
Looking at the numerous slashes introduced by Microsoft many speculate that this is in preparation for the public introduction of the much awaited Microsoft Surface Pro 4. In a recent report by the InternationalBusinessTimes, Surface Pro 4 is set for official release on July this year. The same source reports that the latest Surface surpasses Apple's MacBook.
Microsoft boasts that Surface Pro 4 has an extended battery life compared to its predecessors and even with that of Apple. It makes use of the Broadwell chip, which, according to Microsoft extends battery life by an additional 1.7 hours compared to a system powered by the Haswell-based Core i5 found in Surface 3.
What most reviewers found killer with Surface Pro 4 is the depth camera. The same is a current feature in most iPhone models and Samsung smartphones, but Microsoft highlights its difference from the rest which are yet to be unveiled.
Moreover, the new Microsoft Surface Pro 4 comes into different models. The 12-inch, fanless, killer 2,160 x 1,440 pixels resolution model is powered by the Intel chip; while the 14-inch version runs on the same specifications but more hi-tiered with its Intel i5 and i7 processors. In addition, the newer version is equipped with 16GB up to 1TB of RAM. Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is the first ever device to run on Windows 10 with Intel core Broadwell processor instead of the Haswell SoC in order to reach a stronger system performance.
Sources report that Microsoft Surface Pro 4 starts at within the $1,200 and $2,000 price range; however, there are no formal statements from the company yet clarifying this.
